I told you exciting things were coming, and by jove is this the most exciting of the lot!
Bristolians, have you ever taken a stroll down Baldwin Street, and wondered what ever could take the place in the stunning building where once Photographique stood? WELL. That fabulous building is now inhabited by the equally marvellous Urban Graphic, whose flagship Bristol store, No. 31, is home to the most weird and wonderful array of simply beautifully designed products.
Urban Graphic are primarily a design-led publisher of greetings cards and stationary, who, since 2003, have been found in such stores as Paperchase, Scribbler, Waterstones, Urban Outfitters and even Harrods amongst others. With their new store, however, they have curated a collection of gorgeously designed items perfect for everyday use, so you can make everyday a little more beautiful. It’s basically a website full of my favourite things.
1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6
I was asked by Urban Graphic to choose a selection of my absolute favourites from their website, of things which I would most probably pick up if I were to pop in the shop tomorrow.
The first is this Alice in Wonderland art print (1). I’ve been really attempting to get some more art up on the walls recently, starting with two of my favourite prints I got properly framed (you may have spied them on my Instagram). I absolutely adore the bold typography of this print, plus Alice was my favourite book when I was little, so it’s a bit of a winner all round, really!
I continue the Victoriana theme with this fabulous cushion from Chase & Wonder (2). You aren’t a true Bristolian unless you are somewhat obsessed with balloons, and it’s true that I turn into a 5-year-old whenever I see one. Perhaps if I were to buy this I could be just as excited every time I see it?
Next is this adorable Donna Wilson egg cup (3). I’m not sure what else to say about this other than cats + eggs = joy. More favourite things, COMBINED. Nuff said.
Sitting next to my lovely cat egg cup could be these two items, this goddamn gorgeous teapot from Ferm Living (4), with its minty flat top and minimalistic design, and this pretty abstract ‘Beats & Biscuits’ plate (5) from Jimbobart. Apparently, ‘after clearing the decks, Mr. Badger drops eggs, mixes phat sugar and flour and beats, heats, scratches and samples his fresh-tasting cookies.’ That’s my kind of woodland creature.
Finally, I snuck something on my list for Tom (such a good wife). He’s a bit of a dirty hipster with his massive ginger beard and bike that he built himself, which he rides to work every day. He recently ran into a spot of bother with one of the pedals, and I reckon if he had this Bicycle Bible (6) on him that it would have been fixed up in no time!
As well as asking what I would choose myself from the store, Urban Graphic kindly offered to send over a sample of some of their products so I could see what they were all about. I was absolutely gobsmacked when this massive (and beautifully wrapped) parcel was delivered to my desk at work, so much so I had to get a picture before I ripped it open!
I got some brilliant greetings cards (my favourite being the one about cats), a massive slab of gorgeous rose-flavoured chocolate, some rather fancy-looking perfume samples from Juliette Has a Gun and LaLique (my favourite being one called ‘Lady Vengeance’), plus this mug and teatowel, by a company called Lettered.
What’s more, as well as sending over a ‘Successful Women‘ teatowel for me, Urban Graphic also kindly sent one over for me to give away to one lucky reader! I’m pretty gosh darn excited about this, as it’s the first ever giveaway I have ever hosted, so forgive me if I seem a little clueless! If you spot anything wrong then let me know on the Twitter – @lilydoble.
I’ve heard that Rafflecopter make things pretty simple, and so I’ve set up one below, which should hopefully work if you click on the link. Just leave a comment below with what you would choose from Urban Graphic and I will choose a winner when it closes next Tuesday!
Good luck!
